Industrial Waste Management
CIMS Industrial, part of CIMS Group, supports industrial organisations in identifying, substantiating and delivering the best solution for wastewater and sludge challenges. We do not work from one preferred processing route. We work from the customer’s specific issue, the quality of the stream, the available technologies, the sustainability impact and the applicable regulatory framework.
Our strength lies in combining exploratory assessment, analytical substantiation, practical market knowledge, logistical coordination and access to a broad network of specialised wastewater and sludge processors in the Netherlands, Belgium and, where required, beyond. This enables us to offer customers not a standard answer, but a carefully considered route: technically feasible, legally compliant, practically executable and as sustainable as possible.
Wastewater and sludge streams are rarely straightforward. Composition may vary, available market capacity may be limited and the best solution is not always the most obvious one. That is why our approach starts with a substantive exploration together with the customer.
We assess origin, composition, volumes, risks, frequency, urgency and operational constraints. We then analytically investigate the quality of the stream and determine which options are realistic, responsible and available. We deliberately look beyond disposal only: in-situ treatment, temporary facilities, separation of partial streams, biological treatment, physico-chemical processing, sludge treatment, storage, logistics and export may all be part of the solution.
We think from the perspective of the customer and the environment. Profitability is not the starting point; the best suitable solution is. Each route is assessed against the waste hierarchy in line with the Ladder of Lansink, the Dutch Circular Materials Plan (CMP) and Best Available Techniques (BAT). This keeps the selected treatment or processing route traceable, defensible and future-proof.
The preferred route is always the one that responsibly balances resources, emissions, transport, energy use, risks and compliance. Where reuse, reduction, source control or treatment closer to the customer is possible, we explore that first. Only when removal is necessary or more appropriate do we organise the right processing route.
CIMS Industrial positions itself as an independent coordinator within the wastewater and sludge market. We understand the market, the technologies, the permit-related framework and the practical limitations that industrial customers face. This allows us to act quickly while maintaining a careful and well-substantiated assessment.
We work with both large and smaller wastewater and sludge processors in the Netherlands and Belgium. The unique route with Evides CAB is an important addition, particularly when biological treatment is the best available technique for the stream concerned. In other cases, we deliberately look for alternative routes with specialised processors, depending on composition, volume, urgency, location, available capacity and sustainability impact.
1. Exploratory Assessment
We start with a substantive discussion with the customer about the issue, stream origin, volumes, timing, operational constraints and desired outcome.
2. Analysis and Characterisation
We arrange or support sampling, laboratory analysis and interpretation of results. This creates insight into the chemical, physical and/or biological treatability of the stream.
3. Route Selection
Based on quality, volume, permits, BAT, CMP, Ladder of Lansink, logistics and available capacity, we determine the most appropriate solution route.
4. On-Site Solution Where Possible
If an in-situ solution at the customer’s location is technically and practically feasible, we explicitly investigate this route. This may include temporary treatment, pre-treatment, separation, buffering, neutralisation or another tailored solution.
5. Removal and Processing Where Required
If removal is necessary, we organise an appropriate route to authorised processors in the Netherlands, Belgium or beyond. The processor is not predetermined; the choice follows from what is best for the customer, the stream and the environment.
6. Logistics and Temporary Storage
If required, we arrange transport by road or barge. When direct processing capacity is temporarily unavailable, temporary storage of large volumes may be part of the solution, provided this fits within applicable requirements and permits.
7. Reporting and Traceability
We provide clear documentation, transparent communication, reporting and administrative handling. The customer maintains oversight without having to coordinate all technical and logistical links independently.
The collaboration with Evides CAB remains an important and distinctive part of our service offering. Together, we have developed a unique route for industrial water streams for which biological treatment is substantively the right and best available technique.
At the same time, this route is not the default option. CIMS Industrial recommends the Evides CAB route only when it demonstrably fits the quality of the stream, its technical treatability, sustainability objectives, permit-related framework and the customer’s interest. If another route is better, we choose that route.
Our service is relevant for industrial organisations dealing with wastewater or sludge streams for which no simple in-house solution is available. Examples include process water, tank cleaning water, sludge streams, contaminated rainwater, firefighting water, maintenance water, temporary project streams, highly loaded partial streams or water streams outside the regular permit or treatment scope.
Relevant sectors include petrochemicals, chemical and process industries, food & feed, tank storage, terminals, industrial cleaning, energy, construction and infrastructure, waste processing, digestion, composting and public-sector organisations with complex water-related challenges.
CIMS Industrial is the independent solution partner for complex wastewater and sludge challenges. We investigate, substantiate and organise the best route: preferably as close to the source as possible, where necessary via specialised processing, and always with the Ladder of Lansink, CMP, BAT, compliance and sustainability as guiding principles.
Whether the best solution is on-site treatment, biological treatment via Evides CAB, processing through a specialised partner, barge transport, temporary storage or a combination of these: we take the lead and ensure the customer receives a responsible, executable and future-proof solution.
